About:

Laverne Lewis-Holden, also known by her Igbo name Ogechukwukamma (“God’s timing is the best”), is a U.S.-born humanitarian, former U.S. Army member, and global citizen dedicated to service and community empowerment.

With a background in the federal healthcare sector, she is deeply involved in initiatives that support women, disabled veterans, and underserved communities.

Through her work with nonprofits such as My Global CitizenBlack Girls Build, and My Seester, she promotes local economic development aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Her contributions have been instrumental in global efforts, resulting in many successful actions in support of the community abroad and within Nigeria. A proud diasporan reconnecting with her nigerian roots, Laverne is also a mother traveler, real estate entrepreneur, and farmer whose is passionate about learning her cultural heritage and social change.
